Accepting the Inaugural GlobalWIN Chairwoman’s Award
Recently, I was presented with the inaugural GlobalWIN Chairwoman’s Award. I was thrilled to be at the British Ambassador’s Residence, joined by Members of Congress, the amazing Ambassador Karen Pierce, my Microsoft and LinkedIn colleagues and friends, and most importantly, my son Moses Fishman, to receive this incredible award.
Mentoring, empowering, and supporting women in public policy, is critically important and it has been the honor of a lifetime. From my modest beginnings in Akron, Ohio to this esteemed chamber of the British Embassy, my journey has been shaped by the unwavering support of family, mentors, colleagues, and cherished friends. As I stand at this juncture, I am reminded that every step has been a testament to the power of resilience, mentorship, and the profound impact of the remarkable women and men whose paths have intersected with mine. I would like to thank GlobalWIN founders Helen Milby and Melika Carroll as their creation of GlobalWIN was brilliant! The fact that you invited me to have a leadership role in its creation still amazes me to this day. It has been an honor, and I am uplifted by your work.
My last thank you goes to Moses Fishman, my son, who was standing by me as I accepted the award. Moses, you've been the beacon of joy and inspiration in my life, and watching you embark on your own global journey as you prepare to attend college in Aix-en-Provence, France, is so thrilling and rewarding as your mom! In the words of Henry David Thoreau - “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” Indeed, I have!
